Chippenham
Garden & Allotment Society

Welcome to the Chippenham Garden & Allotment Society!

The Society manages Chippenhams six allotment sites situated in several areas around the town. The allotments are worked by an enthusiastic selection of gardeners with flourishing and productive plots. The Society also run a programme of monthly talks, trips to gardens and shows and organizes the Annual Show.

Our next social evening is at 7.30pm on Tuesday 8th May when Gill Hazell will talk about "Growing and Showing Sweet Peas". As usual everyone is welcome!

This years annaul trip takes place on Saturday 7th July when we are visiting RHS Rosemoor! More details can be found in the March Newsletter.

The 2011 Annual Show was held on Saturday 3rd September in The Neeld Hall. Congratulations to everyone who took part and in particular to all the winners! You can download a list of all the awards and cups here, a list of all the winners in different categories here and a PDF of the Show Guide here.

Do you know about the history of the allotments in Chippenham? Perhaps your father or grandfather had a plot? If so we would like to hear from you!

Contributions wanted for the website and our newsletter! Like the Society both are here for you, so if you have any recipes, top allotment tips, photos, anecdotes from the plot or any other contributions please contact us! We are also looking for helpers to distribute the Newsletter and occasional other correspondence to other members in your area. Please get in touch if you are able to help!

Queries about allotments

If you have a question about availability of allotments or the waiting list for plots can we please ask you to in the first instance contact David Love (01249 658467) with any queries.

Water Consumption

Please can we remind you that, as announced in the last Newsletter, sprinklers are now BANNED from all sites. Please use water sensibly when watering your plot. The RHS has good advice on what you can do.
